How It Works

The HP Series uses a horizontal centrifugal pump driven by a stainless steel motor and controlled by the Torrium2. The Torrium2 adapts pump output to match demand continuously, rather than switching on and off as pressure drops and recovers. This keeps pressure steady at every outlet and reduces wear compared to conventional on/off cycling.

Suitable for: household and domestic water supply, irrigation and water transfer, and washing systems.

FAQs

How do I choose the right model?
The HP45-05T suits small to medium homes with standard simultaneous demand. The HP65-06T is the step up for larger homes with multiple bathrooms or outlets running at once. The HP85-08T suits large, high-demand homes. All three have the same maximum pressure; the difference is flow capacity.

What does the Torrium2 controller do?
It adapts pump output continuously to match demand, rather than switching on and off as pressure drops. This means consistent pressure at every outlet and less wear on the motor compared to conventional cycling operation. It also provides loss of prime and over-temperature protection.

Can I use it with rainwater or tank water?
The HP Series is rated for clean, clear water. For tank or rainwater supplies, a pre-filter upstream is recommended to protect the pump from sediment.

How loud is it?
The HP Series uses sealed, greased-for-life bearings and is designed for quiet residential operation. The Torrium2's adaptive control also reduces noise compared to pumps that cycle on and off at full speed.

Do I need a plumber to install it?
Yes, professional installation by a licensed plumber is recommended. The pump connects via standard BSP fittings.

Can I pair it with a water filter?
Yes. A whole-house filter installed upstream protects the pump from sediment and extends its service life.

What warranty applies?
2 years, backed by Davey's NZ dealer network.

Why do all three models share the same 330 kPa max pressure?
Max pressure is set by the pump's single-stage horizontal design, which is shared across the range regardless of motor size. The added power in the HP65-06T and HP85-08T goes into pushing more flow at that same pressure ceiling rather than raising the ceiling itself, which is why flow rises across the range while max pressure stays fixed.

When should I choose the HP Series over the HS Series?
The HP Series tops out at 330 kPa, suited to single or standard two-storey homes without significant elevation change or long pipe runs. The HS Series uses a 4-stage design reaching up to 700 kPa, better suited to multi-storey homes, properties on a slope, or longer distances between the pump and the furthest outlet.

Does the IP55 rating mean it can be installed outdoors uncovered?
IP55 protects against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction, which covers general rain exposure. It isn't rated for submersion or standing water, so a sheltered spot such as under an eave or in a vented enclosure is still preferable to a fully exposed outdoor location.

Is there a three-phase version of any HP model?

All three models are supplied with a 2 metre power lead and standard NZ 3-pin plug, indicating single-phase power only. There's no three-phase option within this range; if a property runs on three-phase supply exclusively, this isn't the pump series to spec.

What happens when the thermal overload trips?
The built-in thermal overload cuts power to the motor if it overheats, then resets automatically once the motor has cooled to a safe operating temperature. Repeated tripping usually points to an underlying issue, such as the pump running dry or against excessive resistance, worth checking rather than just letting it keep resetting.
